Aging is inevitable process, which includes changes on personal, cognitive, social and physical level of an elderly person. Retirement, deaths of peers, adaptation to a new lifestyle, decline in the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and nervous systems cause weakness of the body, which lead to falls, injuries and possible death, if they are not supported by preventive strategies. The main purpose of our research was to examine the effectiveness of the Vadbeceda exercise program, to determine the impact on motor skills and consequently on the prevention of falls in older adults over 65 years of age. The study included 22 elderly people from Center aktivnosti Fužine, with an average age of 70 ± 4 years. Before the start of the study, they completed a questionnaire about their health status and were informed about its course and testing. The exercise program included 12 resistance exercises, 1 exercise for pelvic floor muscles and 3 exercises for balance. The study lasted 16 weeks. The first 8 weeks were control trial, and the second 8 weeks we conducted the Vadbeceda exercise program. The exercises progressed in difficulty over the weeks. The results showed that exercise program significantly improved lower limb strength and balance, thereby helping to reduce the risk of falls in the elderly. No statistical significance was detected in upper limb strength, flexibility and endurance before and after the Vadbeceda exercise program. The study provides insight into the fall prevention program and its effects on certain motor skills. For more valid and reliable results, the study should be conducted on a larger sample, with a control group and longer duration of the exercise program.
