In the last period the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) became one of most important generic competences of human resource managers. At the same time the companies who invest in structured development of ICT are the ones that are the most successful in global economy. In our master’s thesis we will define key competences and link them with ICT usage and its connection to other key competences of human resource managers. In the empirical part we will place future human resource managers and young human resource managers in the center of the research, in which we will be interested in what ICT means for them, how they develop ICT in study period and in period of first employment and hot does ICT usage effect on development of other key competences human resource managers need. Our research is based on qualitative research method – on ten interviews with future human resource managers and young human resource managers. We analyzed their answers with preparing competence models for each research period. One of main focus we point out at the end of our research is ICT link to other competencies, which should be one of main arguments for development and investment in development of ICT. We discover that ICT in higher education is still neglected, even though use of ICT is important and has big influence in creating competitive advantage of companies.
