In this master's thesis, I examine the spoken language of correspondents reporting from Slovenia for Televizija Slovenija. The research focuses on alternating between standard literary and colloquial literary Slovene in the correspondents’ reports and live broadcasts. I am interested in whether such alternation occurs, and if so, when it takes place and what circumstances contribute to this linguistic switching. I focus on the differences in language use between pre-recorded reports and live segments. Televizija Slovenija has one of the most extensive networks of correspondents reporting across the country, covering diverse regions. The areas from which correspondents report also exhibit distinct dialectal features. Since journalists live in the regions they report from, this thesis also explores whether dialectal elements can be detected in their speech in both pre-recorded reports and live broadcasts. I aim to identify which dialectal features appear, as well as when and where they occur in the correspondents’ speech.
