Abstract

Abstract:
Niko Jež in his translation of Gombrowicz's Trans-Atlantik took into consideration the relationship towards the original and the author, which is the most important for the translator. He deciphered, understood, and reconstructed the model of the world from the original and offered as complete equivalent of the inner-textual narrative perspective as possible. He exposed the relationships between the evoked model of the world and language, together with presuppositions, implied in inter-lexical relations. The translation on the one hand presupposes the information known to the Slovene audience, on the other hand it brings closer the Polish culture. It highlights the exceptional quality of Gombrowicz's prose, without leaving out its ludistic aspect, despite the fact that this was extremely difficult considering the objective differences between the linguistic systems of Slovene and Polish and their literary traditions.
