Introduction: Abortion is the planned termination of pregnancy at the woman's request, which remains an ethical dilemma in today's society. Abortion is a procedure with significant consequences for a woman's mental and physical health. Purpose: In the thesis, we want to investigate the already known consequences of abortion on a woman's mental and physical health. Methods: When preparing the thesis, we used a descriptive method of work with a review of the existing professional and scientific literature in the field of abortion and its impact on a woman's mental and physical health. It was obtained from Pubmed, ScienceDirect, DiKul and Google Scholar databases. The research strategy was presented with a PRISMA diagram. The quality of sources was shown in a hierarchy of evidence. Results: In the final literature review we have used 11 sources. The results of the studies collected for the literature review are presented using a table. This shows an analysis of the literature according to authors, year of publication, title, research purpose, methodology, key findings of each study and quality category. Discussion and conclusion: In the thesis, with the help of a literature review, we described the consequences that abortion has on mental and physical health of a woman who decides to have it, and thus answered the research question posed. Studies in the field of abortion and its consequences on mental health are not completely uniform, but in all of them they emphasize the importance of preventing unwanted pregnancy.
