This study addresses the numerous changes introduced to journalism and the work of the public broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV Slovenija) during the Covid-19 pandemic. The primary goal of the study is to identify and explain the consequences of these changes. It strives to find the changes, deviations and similarities in the way journalists and editors of RTV Slovenija understood the role of journalists and public media service during and after the Covid 19 pandemic. The method employed were qualitative interviews which teased out the thoughts, opinions and conclusions of journalists and editors of TV Slovenija, Radio Slovenija and the online media platform MMC. They were asked about the roles of journalists and achieving the ideals of public broadcasting. The results show that the employees of the RTV Slovenija news desk understand public broadcasting as a set of ideals guiding their everyday work. They highlight providing independent and objective information as a key element of the role of public broadcasting and the role of journalists. The study also found that journalists can fulfill and combine different roles, and revealed a self-critical attitude some journalists held toward the work of RTV Slovenija during the Covid-19 pandemic.
