In my thesis, I explore the main female characters who appear in three novels by Romain Gary from the last period of his life: Chien blanc, Au-delà de cette limite votre ticket n’est plus valable and Les Cerfs-volants. Among the prominent themes in them, we can find love, fear of aging, loyalty and memories. In analysing the characters in question, I focus on the similarities with the actress and Romain Gary's wife from 1962 to 1970 – Jean Seberg. In connection with their life together, at the beginning of the thesis, I briefly present the author's biography, the years they spent together as a couple, and the actress' career path. I then raise the literary-theoretical question of autobiography and autofiction and consider their connection to Gary's writing style. In the last and main part of my work, I focus on a detailed analysis of the three selected novels. I put them in a historical and literary context and present their content, and then analyse the main female character, in whom one might at first glance recognise Jean Seberg.
