In this master's thesis, we will present Ivan Galamian's didactic methods. First, we will present Galamian's academic journey, his soloist and teaching career, and continue by presenting the Juilliard and Meadowmount schools, where Ivan Galamian taught, and introduce some of his best-known students. We will also add personal experience from various summer schools. We will present Galamian's book "Principles of Violin Playing and Teaching" in more detail. This will be followed by teaching methods and a brief overview of the lives of Assistant Professor Dorothy DeLay and her student Simon Fischer. We will also discuss his books "Basics – 300 exercises for the violin" and its extension "Practice – 250 exercises for the violin", where we will focus mainly on the mental aspect of violin practice. We will conclude with an interview with Professor Gorjan Košuta about his experience studying with Ivan Galamian.
