Introduction: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a type of male sexual dysfunction in which a man is unable to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance. Physical methods for the treatment of ED include pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy, which is safe, effective, painless, and non-invasive. Purpose: This study aimed to test the potential use of PEMF therapy in men with ED of various etiologies, as well as in healthy men without ED. Methods: The master's thesis was conducted using a cross-sectional study methodology. The theoretical part analyzed the existing national and international scientific literature using a descriptive method. A quantitative research paradigm was used for the empirical part. A random sample of 50 participants was included, divided into a control group (n = 25) and an intervention group (n = 25). All participants received the therapy. Their baseline condition and the effects of treatment with a chair for impulse magnetic stimulation of the penile area were monitored via the 1KA website using the validated International Index of Erectile Function, which we translated and adapted for the purposes of the study. Each participant completed five sessions and filled out three survey questionnaires. Statistical analysis of the collected data was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26. Due to deviations from the normal data distribution, we used non-parametric tests in the statistical analysis. When analyzing and interpreting the results, the statistical significance level was set at 0,05. Results: We found that the groups of healthy men and men with ED differed statistically significantly on issues of erectile function, ejaculation, and sexual satisfaction. In the control group, the PEMF therapy statistically significantly increased confidence in achieving and maintaining an erection, while in the intervention group, it statistically significantly improved erectile and ejaculatory function and sexual satisfaction. Discussion and conclusion: We concluded that the use of PEMF is an effective method for treating ED and improving male sexual function. Although the statistical significance of the therapy was not observed in all aspects of the study, we believe the results are clinically important. Further research is needed in the future to investigate the long-term effects of PEMF in the treatment of ED and to establish optimal treatment protocols.
