Exploring the significance of privacy protection in the digital age, we focus on
the innovative use of pseudonymization as a means to protect individual privacy
while maintaining data utility. Building on existing anonymization techniques,
the research proposes a novel approach centered on pseudonymization.
Inspired by a short-lived initiative at the University of Ljubljana, where
pseudonyms were used for a limited period, the thesis examines the potential
of pseudonymization in real-world scenarios. By analyzing the challenges and
benefits associated with the use of pseudonyms, particularly in the healthcare
sector, the research demonstrates the feasibility of pseudonymization as
a privacy-enhancing tool. The developed pseudonymization framework offers
a comprehensive solution for preserving privacy while enabling data analysis,
making a significant contribution to the advancement of data privacy
practices in various applications.
