In her master’s thesis, the author focuses on the soil, which is vital for many creatures, but often unnoticed or taken for granted. She uses ethnography to shed light on the diverse
aspects of the relationship between people and soil, which she finds to be extremely diverse. She is particularly interested in the ways in which the soil is cared for, and questions the
notion of humans as a custodial species. She also focuses on the changing perceptions of soil over time and the growing interest for soil research in the social sciences and humanities.
