This thesis sheds light on the question of feminine words in the modern lexis. It addresses the issue from two perspectives, word formation and meaning. In the case of the word-formation aspect, the thesis draws attention to the predictable structure of feminine names and, at the same time, determines the word-formation base and the forms of the newly created feminine forms.
On the semantic level, the thesis introduces the notion of syntactic base. It assigns it to the new formations, while at the same time reflecting on the circumstances of the emergence of the feminine names and their thematic connection. In the second part of the thesis, 47 passwords whose noun classifier is feminine are analysed from the Growing Dictionary of the Slovenian
Language.
