Abstract
Preko vzhodne kulture, specifično preko japonske zen umetnosti in načina življenja, predstavim vlogo praznine v našem življenju in umetnosti.

Title:Integrating emptiness in art composition
Abstract:
In my bachelor’s thesis, I focus on the concept of emptiness in fine art and its inclusion in fine art composition. Through Eastern culture, specifically through Japanese Zen art and way of life, I present the role of emptiness in our life and art. I present how we can constantly find connections between this art and later Western movements and artists whether these connections emerged consciously or purely by chance. Utilizing the theory of our artistic perception, I present the reasons that contribute to the fact that certain information is perceived as important to us and, thus, we create the figure–background relationship. In my paintings, I try to exploit the nature of our visual perception in such a way that I create images that show the exact opposite of what we are used to in the visible world. I rely on abstraction and try to highlight through my works and the works of other artists that it is not absolutely necessary to always depict recognizable motifs for the figure–background relationship.
