Sustainable development goals are becoming more important in new curriculum. In my masters thesis I try to show its impact on the teaching of literature in Gymnasiums. In the first three parts, I deal with several fields that enter the (literature) classroom with the integration of sustainable development – posthuman studies, ecocriticism and ecopedagogy. I conclude my general overview of the fields with a review of general pedagogical handbooks on sustainability. In the fourth part, I redefine the teaching of literature based on the Sustainable Development Goals. I am highlighting a list of literary works that can be used to achieve the sustainable development goals, the integration of literature teaching with language teaching and the method of a thematic reading club during literature class
