The master's thesis is based on the presentation of the meanings of cartographic literacy, the development of children's spatial representation skills and the presentation of cartographic lessons. Cartographic studies are the foundation of acquiring cartographic literacy. Most often, atlases, wall maps, globes are used. The Master's thesis also presents the concept of cartographic literacy and the factors of cartographic literacy. The development of cartographic literacy is a long-term process that takes place throughout the entire vertical primary school education. The empirical part of the master's thesis shows the results of a written test of cartographic literacy, which was solved by students of the sixth and ninth grades of elementary school. It also tested the survey section it contained. The results of the research show that students' cartographic literacy declines over the years and it is necessary to include as much field work as possible in geography lessons, which will contribute to increasing the ability of spatial representations.
