The aim of the thesis was to create a cardboard packaging for the transfer of ceramic
products and to design a brand identity. When designing and producing the packaging, we
had in mind that it should be recyclable, practical, functional and attractive to the user.
In the theoretical part of the thesis, we described cardboard as a packaging material,
processed the meaning of packaging nowadays, delved into eco-design and explored the
already known ways of wrapping products that are breakable. In the experimental part, we
tested the carboard packaging and tried different solutions to protect the box further by
adding a little belt to secure it to the seatbelt of the car. We then created examples of brand
graphics in Adobe Illustrator, created the packaging and visualised it in 3d in EngView
Package Designer.
We then cut, reworked and assembled the packaging at the university until we came up
with a suitable solution. The final product is a recyclable packaging with an eco-design that
serves the purpose of safe transportation of products.
There are not many options on the market today for packaging that is suitable for fragile
and breakable products, that is at the same time adaptable to the individual product and
follows the principles of eco-design. In most cases, there are boxes that are tailored to a
specific product, keeping the size and shape the same. Today, breakable products are
mostly wrapped with plastic wrappers, which are not environmentally friendly.
