Several reactions between chromium chloride hexahydrate and pyrazinoic acid were carried out in various solvents or their mixtures. In some cases, concentrated HCl was added to the reaction mixture. The reactions were conducted at room temperature or in an oil bath at 60 °C. Dark green crystals of two coordination compounds, [CrCl$_2$(pyza)(pyzaH)]·2H$_2$O and [Cr(pyza)$_3$]·nH$_2$O, were formed. All resulting products were analyzed by IR spectroscopy. To further confirm the composition of the products, CHN analysis, thermal analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction were also employed.
