The thesis pertains to the field of quality assurance in the production of connecting furniture fittings. Tools and methods of quality assurance were utilized for credible analysis and problem-solving. The analysis of testing and research methodology presents a furniture hinge that encountered a problem. To facilitate understanding of the production process of this specific product, a process diagram was created. All defects and their frequency of occurrence on the product were presented using a Pareto chart. This ensured a clear selection of defects for further analysis and resolution. Using the Ishikawa diagram in combination with the 5 Whys method, the root cause of the defect was identified. This was followed by the implementation of the mentioned quality assurance methods in an 8D analysis. The defect was thoroughly identified, followed by a temporary corrective action, after which the fundamental causes of the defect were identified. The result of the 8D analysis was a permanent corrective action that reliably resolved the problem. The effectiveness of the action was demonstrated using statistical process control (SPC).
