Digital technologies have become a very important part of children's daily lives in modern society. With the development of the internet, mobile phones, tablets and other digital devices, children began using technology at a very early age. This thesis is based on the study of the complex dynamics between the digitization of childhood, the role of parental control over the use of digital technology and children's consumption of digital content. The aim of this thesis was to determine how parents today manage the use of digital technologies among increasingly younger children. Through the analysis of interviews conducted with a sample of six families with preschool and primary school children, I obtained answers to my two research questions and discovered that all parents know and use parental control tools, but nevertheless I discovered that they have considerable shortcomings. All interviewed parents state that these tools give them a greather sense of security, but at this point it is necessary to question whether children are actually safer this way.
