The automation of production processes is an essential aspect of achieving greater efficiency, precision and quality standards in many industrial sectors. It also provides a solution to the labour shortages that prevail nowadays. As part of the final thesis, five different concept proposals for a new automated production system for the insertion of furniture connectors (germ. Topfverbinder) have been developed for the analysed company. At the outset, following an analysis of the manual assembly process for inserting connectors, which does not add value to the product, we defined the main objectives of the new automated production system that will replace this manual task. In order to identify the requirements that the new production system must meet, we consulted the company’s guidelines, which were then used to define the final specifications and the functional structure of the new system. Finally, based on the findings and requirements obtained during the research, five different proposals for a production system concept were developed and compared. These proposals were designed to improve the production process.
