The kindergarten is an institution where the majority of children enter, which means that kindergarten professionals inevitably encounter various burdensome experiences and traumas of children, as they are in direct contact with them on a daily basis. In the theoretical part of the master's thesis, I explain the terms burdensome experiences in childhood, trauma and traumatic experiences, the consequences of these experiences, and present suggestions for helping a child with a burdensome experience. I present definitions of trauma by various authors, a traumatic event, and signs and symptoms in a child. I write about the consequences of trauma and an approach based on the understanding of trauma. Finally, I present the importance of kindergarten in dealing with trauma.
