Abstract
Diplomsko delo v teoretičnem uvodu obravnava značilnosti dela na slovenskem ozemlju, potem pa se osredotoči na delo s krajšim delovnim časom in pravico do dela s krajšim delovnim časom v okviru starševskega varstva. Posebna pozornost je namenjena usklajevanju poklicnega in zasebnega življenja, ki je pogosto navedeno kot eno od ključnih razlogov oziroma namenov za obstoj in koriščenje te pravice. Pri tem se poleg (ne)enakosti med spoli osredotoči tudi na prednosti, slabosti in izboljševanje politik na področju dela s krajšim delovnim časom (zaradi starševstva). Z raziskavo želim odgovoriti na raziskovalna vprašanja o izkušnjah s koriščenjem pravice do dela s krajšim delovnim časom zaradi starševstva, razlogih za koriščenje te pravice, finančnem vidiku in vplivu Centrov za socialno delo ter predlogih za spremembe. S kvalitativno raziskavo in neslučajnostnim priložnostnim vzorcem 13 mam sem prišla do glavnih ugotovitev, da je odločitev za koriščenje pravice med partnerjema odvisna od več dejavnikov, med drugim vrste dela in delovnega časa, višine plačila in siceršnjega ukvarjanja z otroki, pri čemer nekatere mame v odločitev vključijo tudi delodajalca. Intervjuvanke so bile s svojo izkušnjo zelo zadovoljne, saj jim je krajši delovni čas prinesel več časa z družino, manj stresa zaradi hitenja in lažje usklajevanje poklicnega in zasebnega življenja. Pri tem se finance zaradi socialnih transferjev in drugih razlogov pri nekaterih niso preveč spremenile, pri drugih pa je bila sprememba prevelika, da bi lahko nadaljevale s koriščenjem pravice. Predlogi, ki so jih podale za spremembo področja pravice do dela s krajšim delovnim časom zaradi starševstva, se večinoma nanašajo na podaljšanje pravice v zakonodaji.

Title:The Right to Work Part-time – Reconciling Work and Family Life
Abstract:
The theoretical introduction of the thesis deals with the characteristics of part-time work in the Slovenian territory, and then focuses on part-time work and the right to work part-time due to parenthood. Particular attention is paid to work-life balance, which is often cited as one of the key reasons or purposes for the existence and exercise of this right. In addition to gender (in)equality, it also focuses on the advantages, disadvantages and policy improvements in the area of part-time work (due to parenthood). The study aims to answer research questions on experiences with the right to work part-time due to parenthood, reasons for using this right, the financial aspect and impact of the Centers for Social Work, as well as proposals for change. Through qualitative research and a non-randomized ad-hoc sample of 13 mothers, my main findings are that the decision to use the right between partners depends on a number of factors, including the type of work and working hours, the level of pay, and how involved they are with the children, with some mothers also involving their employer in the decision-making process. The interviewees were very satisfied with their experience, as the shorter working hours gave them more time with their families, less stress from rushing around and easier balancing work and private life. For some, finances did not change much due to social transfers and other reasons, while for others the change was too great to continue using the right. The proposals made by them to change the scope of the right to work part-time due to parenthood mainly concern the extension of the right in legislation.
