The analysis of public request towards suburban forest on the region Glince-Črnuče was performed with the opinion poll of visitors and forest owners. The most common intention for the visit is trip or hike. Sunday visit represents almost the third of whole-week visit. The majority of day-visit represents personal vehicles, hikers and cyclists. In recent years the increase of personal vehicles and cyclists is observed. The most common reasons for the visit are clean air, peace and relaxation. The forest seems neglected to the third of visitors. In fact, untidiness and illegal refuse dump places were the most disturbing factors. This forest is important for thewater source protection for less than half visitors. Visitors also think that this forest is much more endangered with forest fruit collecting than with polluted air, natural disasters or numerous visitors. Nevertheless, they think all this does not endanger forest existence. On the basis of opinion poll we have confirmed that in the regions with frequent visit also the share of social roles is bigger. Forest owners directly cooperate with Slovenian Forest Service, but visitors do not have the opportunity or they do not participate in the process of forest management planning. Direct determinationof public opinion and its demands is especially important for theforest management planning. Public is important link and should be includedin procedures of forest management planning. One possible form of public participation in forest management planning is also opinion poll with cognitive map, which was used in our research.
