In the master's thesis, we planned and designed or produced a set of playing cards based on the research. The set of playing cards highlights the potential of approaching the chosen topic to the players, namely getting to know the parts of letters, from the profession of typography. Playing cards allow you to play two games - Donkey and Black Peter. Both games have simple rules and are suitable for playing on a larger generational scale.
In the theoretical part, we focused on social games in general and their historical development and types. We also touched on the influence of social games on humans. We continued with a more detailed review of card games, covering the development of the playing cards themselves. We explored the games Donkey and Black Peter, after which we continued to explore board games with educational content. This part covered both the history of educational games, as well as their graphic design. We also touched on the profession of typography, where we started with the historical development of the font and continued with an examination of the part of the letters.
In the experimental part, with the help of the analysis of examples of good practice in the design of games with educational content, we learned about tips for functional design and the guidelines of modern design. Based on this analysis, we continued with the design of playing cards, where we initially chose the color scale and typography, created symbols, and selected motifs. These elements were initially placed in the playing cards, and then we transferred the design to the instructions and packaging. At the end, we conducted a survey about the product's suitability.
