The article describes the emphasis lying in teaching literature in eighth grades of Slovenian schools when studying Slovenian reformers, counter-reformers and their work in the 20th century. It is based on the analysis of 14 different textbooks or readers for eighth grades between 1901 (Končnik 1901) and 1999 (Honzak et al. 1999). It is evident from the analysis that more attention is paid to reformationand there are some data on Lutheranism among Slovenians even in some textbooks used in Austro-Hungarian times. After the Austro-Hungarian Empire crumbled, when Slovenia was incorporated into one country with other Yugoslav nations, such texts were more common in readers; the greatest number of such texts can be found in readers from the middle of the 20th century. Among the Protestant authors, Primož Trubar holds the greatest prominence; he is followed by Jurij Dalmatin and Adam Bohorič, whereas Sebastjan Krelj is mentioned more infrequently.
