In the future infrastructure of Slovene Studies, Slovene literary history has an uncertain role. This assertion is considered in the light of the proposed document entitled Criteria for election to academic titles for university teachers and academic staff, which threatens not only Slovene academic language, but also the whole of Slovene literary history. These 'habilitation' criteria are one of the faces of post-modern globalisation, which places supranational interests above national ones and turns Slovene literary history into a vicitim of colonisation.
