Product manufacturers face production problems on a daily basis. Delivery must be faster,
cheaper and of higher quality. Also, smaller batches are becoming more and more common,
which means more tool changes and thus more losses. In the company Polycom d.o.o. we
decided to increase the efficiency of the machines (OEE) by reducing the time of tool
changes. In doing so, we used various methods as part of focused improvement, which is the
pillar of total productive management. We connected focused improvement with SMED and
OPL - one point lesson. We reduced the changeover time by as much as 58 %, thereby
increasing the efficiency of the machine by 19.4 %. The company thus gained in
competitiveness and flexibility.
