The diploma describes American Slovenes, beginning with the first migrations in the end of the 19th century. The socioeconomic background that led to the mass migrations is explained with examples and a typical procedure of what a person who would want to migrate would experience. The second part of the thesis is comprised of modern statistics regarding American Slovenes, followed by a chapter on their culture, society and religion.
The next part is about fraternal benefit societies and their important role in the history of American Slovenes and a deeper look at two of the most influential ones, SNPJ and KSKJ. The last part of the thesis consists of an introduction to American Slovene author Louis Adamič and the question of dual citizenship.
