The thesis presents the privatization of Nova KBM d. d., which started in 2014 and was concluded in 2016. The research examines the causes, methods, and consequences of privatization in the selected case, followed by a comparison of management before and after privatization, in order to confirm whether privatization was successful in terms of improved efficiency and profitability. The aim of the thesis is to outline the privatization process and the bank's operations over the years, while providing relevant results based on financial statements.
For the research, a qualitative method was used - document analysis. Specifically, the bank's annual reports and financial statements. The acquired data covered the period from 2013 to 2022, encompassing the periods of bank management under state control and private ownership.
As part of the research, it is found that privatization had a positive impact on the company, as financial indicators improved since the year of privatization. The bank's profitability increased, and the proportion of costs relative to revenues decreased. The findings indicate that privatization was successful. The bank's organization underwent significant changes starting in 2017, a result of the adopted strategy that aimed to position them as the best bank in Slovenia.
The thesis will be helpful to anyone interested in this specific bank, as it provides a chronological overview of privatization in this case, with precise dates of key events and assured results of the analysis. The literature review summarizes the works of numerous authors in the field of privatization, its processes, goals, consequences, causes, and methods.
