Abstract
Naprava Libera Brilliance+ je naprava za izračun položaja žarka v pospeševalniku delcev. Vsaka naprava mora pred integracijo v sistem pospeševalnika uspešno prestati tovarniški preizkus, kateri potrdi brezhibno delovanje naprave. Preizkus naprave vključuje tudi dolgotrajni preizkus, pri katerem se ob stabilnih okoljskih parametrih beleži izračun položaja žarka. Kljub kontrolirani okolici se opazi počasen pojav lezenja izračuna položaja. Ta včasih ne izzveni niti po dnevu ali dveh. Gre za pojav, ki podaljša trajanje preizkusa in pomeni omejeno zmogljivost delovanja testnega laboratorija. Cilj magistrske naloge je bil preučiti princip merjenja položaja žarka pospeševalnika, opisati gradnike in delovanje naprave za obdelavo signala senzorskih elektrod ter preučiti postopek izračuna položaja žarka. Poleg tega je bilo potrebno podrobno preučiti tovarniški test in merilno postavitev zanj. Motivacija za izvedbo magistrskega dela je bila želja po poznavanju vzroka lezenja izračuna položaja žarka ter predlog rešitve, ki bi omilila oziroma odpravila problematični pojav. Prvo poglavje vsebuje opis principa merjenja pozicije žarka v pospeševalniku delcev ter splošen opis delovanja naprave Libera Brilliance+. V drugem poglavju sledi opis merilnega sistema za tovarniški preizkus ter predstavitev problematičnega opažanja. Tretje poglavje opisuje postopke in rezultate meritev, opravljene s ciljem iskanja vzroka problema. V četrtem poglavju sledi teoretična razlaga dobljenih rezultatov z diskusijo.

Title:Evaluation of the drift effect in the beam position monitoring device of a particle accelerator
Abstract:
Libera Brilliance+ is a device used for acquisition and signal processing for Beam Position Monitoring applications in particle accelerators. Each device requires passing the factory acceptance test before integration into accelerator system. Factory acceptance test, among others, consists of the long-term measurement, where, under constant ambient conditions, slow and monotonic drift of position calculation can be observed. The drift phenomena often lasts more than a day or two and amounts to bottleneck in throughput capacity of the quality control department. Goal of the master's thesis was first to perform an in-depth study of beam position monitoring principles (BPM), describe main building blocks of BPM systems and thoroughly analyze the drift effect and identify the underlying causes that result in problematic phenomena. The goal was also to propose remedial strategies to minimize position calculation long-term instability. The first chapter contains a brief explanation of the particle accelerators, signal processing theory and beam position monitoring theory of operation. Description of Libera Brilliance+ device is also included. Following chapter accounts the problematic drift effect. Third chapter describes measurements and experiments performed in order to find out the cause problematic drift. The final chapter provides theoretical insight to the findings and summarizes the paper.
