In the novel Namesto koga roža cveti (1991), the Roma community is understood modernistically, as a closed and relatively stable entity, which is safe only as long as it does not attempt to transcend its own borders. In the novel Nedotakljivi (2007), the borders of ethnic communities are not as solid as in the earlier novel, and the story of the dramatised narrator is relativised, ona non-mythical level, by the irony of the implicit author, which is absent in Namesto koga roža cveti.
