This literary analysis comprises an intertextual comparison of the Slovene novel Hiša Marije Pomočnice (The House of our Lady of Mercy, 1904) by Ivan Cankar and the novel by Berta Bojetu Filio ni doma (Filio Is Not at Home, 1990). The theme of both novels is sexual violence and abuse. Society allows exploitation of the body and the use of sexuality to establish authority. The narrative form of the discourse is a confession.
