The purpose of this degree is to present the promotion of public libraries through social media and also to highlight good and bad practices in posting content on the profiles of two public libraries in Slovenia.In the theoretical part, public libraries are introduced in general along with their tasks and services offered to users. Different social media platforms are then analyzed based on their operation and the functions they offer individually. The main focus of this degree is on the social platform Instagram.In the empirical part, data on the posting of content by Mestna knjižnica Ljubljana and Knjižnica Antona Tomaža Linharta Radovljica on Instagram are presented. The analysis of the data revealed that both good and bad posting practices can be found on the profiles of both libraries. Some of the more successful posts and some less successful posts from both libraries are showcased. Two poorer examples of posts are provided along with the comments on them. In the final part of this degree, an improved post example in presented based on the analysis of posts. The demonstration of the improved post also includes commentary.
