In the thesis, we made a proposal for the image of the newsletter of the Local Community of Podbocje Krževski Zvon. The purpose of the work was to renew the appearance and to redesign the newsletter in accordance with the principles of graphic design.
In the theoretical part, we investigated what the newsletter is as a medium, in order to understand who and what such publications are intended for. We found that there are several types of newsletters and that there are no written rules for how newsletters should look or what should be written in them. Newsletters help build the local community by informing, disseminating and providing information. Publishing of newsletters in Slovenia has been around for many years, we reviewed a few examples. We researched how it is with the design of publications, covers, title fonts and how text breaks are arranged. We have checked what we need to pay attention to during work in order to create the most user-friendly proposal possible.
In the experimental work, we learned about several work methods - we used different computer programs. Adobe program for designing Fontlab 8 letters and for creating covers, breaks and photo processing. We designed and designed the title font and produced the cover and fold. The process includes certain steps - choosing a color, determining a font, selecting and processing photos. The layout of the page combined all the elements created up to that point into a whole.
We also conducted a survey that checked the reading habits of the respondents. With this, we obtained data on the basis of which we could finally choose similar covers. We have confirmed that both visual image and elements are very important in creating the best possible user experience.
