The final paper starts with a theoretical presentation of varistors and the materials they are made of. The predominant material is ZnO ceramics, which are also examined in the assignment. In addition to this type of ceramics, a general brief overview of industrial ceramics is given. We have carried out an analysis of the cutting of industrial ceramics to date and reviewed the advantages and disadvantages of the most common processes. Our problem is to obtain a suitable surface topography, where we do not achieve the desired surface roughness by conventional turning alone, as we want the adhesion of the aluminium metal layer. The solution to this problem lies in the subsequent turning of the face surface with the assistance of ultrasonic assistance. In the thesis, we will describe this process with a mathematical model, which will be used for further preparation of the corresponding desired topography. The solution can also be applied to other materials, not only ceramics.
