A lot of development is dedicated to finding new, cheaper and more economical ways to make products. One of the commonly used procedures is to make products from polymer materials. The problem is that polymer materials are weaker when compared to metals. When a product from a polymer material is designed, it needs to be checked, if the part is still strong enough to whitstand the loads. Our objective was to create a reconstruction of gear from polymer material PA11 with use of SLS 3D printer. Next, the results of gear root tooth stress calculacions were compared for three different methods. These methods were calculation of gear root tooth stress with equasions from standard VDI 2736, numerical simulation in ABAQUS and gear testing on stress testing machine. It was found out, that gear testing and simulation gave pretty similar results, but calculation results according to VDI recommendations were a lot smaller.
