This undergraduate thesis attempts to analyse the collection of novellas Grmada v pristanu by the Slovenian writer from Trieste Boris Pahor. The analysis is based on three perspectives: the historical background, namely the fascist regime's violent attitude towards the members of the Slovene national minority in Italy, the autobiographical element of the writer as an important witness of that time, and the child's perspective. The latter is reflected through the characters in the novellas and emphasises the cruelty of the historical situation.
