This bachelor’s thesis aims to present the lives of children and youth in Velenje after World War II. Through interviews and newspaper articles from Velenje's weekly publications, Rudar and Naš čas, it depicts their memories in connection with the pioneer organization, Youth Day, youth organization, and youth work brigades. When exploring the history of the common people, we often overlook the literal "little people" – the children and youth. They, in a way, grew up alongside the developing city. Their childhood was certainly different from that of their peers from places with a longer history or from rural areas. Therefore, their memories are even more valuable.
