In this master's thesis, we are dealing with the concept of microlearning on the popular social networking site Instagram. We present the development and importance of microlearning, its definitions, characteristics, the variety of implementation options, the link to mobile learning and the design of microlearning itself, mentioning the implementation of microlearning with appropriate technology and the specificities of implementing microlearning on social networks. We continue with web 2.0, which, combined with the increased use of mobile devices and the availability of social networks, is creating new opportunities for microlearning. We also clarify terminology issues and highlight some of the advantages and disadvantages of using the web. Next, we focus on social networks as a learning space in relation to increased opportunities for informal learning, and then we specifically focus on microlearning on Instagram. Due to the lack of research on microlearning on social networking sites, this study aims to gain insight into the background of Instagram profiles from the perspective of managers who plan and share educational content and thus explore the concept of microlearning through the practices of successful Instagram profiles in the Slovenian environment. To this end, we conducted semi-structured interviews with five Instagram account managers and explored areas that are invisible to the public and unexplored, namely: planning and producing microcontent, the use of tools to prepare microcontent, quality criteria for microcontent and evaluation of microcontent. The findings of the study contribute to greater visibility and use of the microlearning concept in the Slovenian environment and to the understanding the specificities of microlearning on Instagram.
