The article establishes a base for research of a little-known chapter in literary history: the interwar correspondence between Slovene authors and the Italian Triestine literary circle. The newly discovered correspondence between Alojz Gradnik and the Triestine Maria Samer is analysed, as well as her handwritten translations of Gradnik's poetry. It is also revealed that an Italian collection of Gradnik's poetry was being prepared during the interwar years and that prominent Triestine cultural figures aided its conception.
