The master thesis presents the problem of economic evaluation of the replacement of pneumatic cylinders with electric actuators, which arose in a company operating in the field of industrial automation. The purpose of the task was to check the feasibility of investing in a machine driven by electric actuators, assuming that the volume of production remains unchanged.
Four investment alternatives are compared against the current situation, when the machine is driven only by pneumatic cylinders. Based on the most frequently used economic indicators, a methodology for choosing the most appropriate investment alternative is presented using multi-criteria decision making methods.
The best rated version of the machine is driven by 13 pneumatic cylinders and 3 electric actuators. A machine driven only by electric actuators is not economically justified.
