The master's thesis sheds light on the processes of collective identity creation in the Kingdom of SHS/Yugoslavia, in socialist Yugoslavia and in the European Union. At first glance, the listed communities are similar in many ways. All of them consist of socially, culturally, religiously and economically different national communities and have tried to find a suitable solution for managing dynamic social relations and establishing a collective consciousness among its citizens throughout their existence. When comparing the three political formations, historical time and the broader geopolitical picture were followed, which influenced the decisions of the political subjects under consideration and the processes of individual and collective identification. The master's thesis is based on modern sociological theories of the nation and nationalism and European integrations, which offer better insight into the complexity of the social dynamics under consideration.
