At the beginning of 2020, we faced a major challenge in the field of education. Coronavirus epidemic happened and it changed the entire course of education, not only in Slovenia but all over the world. During the Covid-19 epidemic many activities relocated online, especially in the field of education. Teachers belong to a group of people who have been forced to face the constant use of ICT, as the entire education system has been implemented in the form of
distance education. In the framework of this task, I dealt with how Slovenian primary school teachers faced modern technology during the coronavirus epidemic and how they overcame the challenges of distance education. Each of the seven interviewees had their own experience, which they tried to show me as best as they could through the answers to my questions. Not only in our society, but also elsewhere in the world, there is still a stereotype that describes poor digital skills and greater resistance to technology among the elderly. With the help of this task, I also broke this stereotype in a way. I interviewed both, younger and older teachers and came to the conclusion that older
teachers may have more experience with teaching and less with the use of technology, but this does not significantly affect their distance teaching or use of technology during lessons. Covid-19 epidemic was, in fact, an ideal situation for those who were not previously in favor of technology, to start looking at it as a good opportunity for development and learning.
I entered the research process with the belief that I would get answers from older teachers
regarding fear and resistance to technology and consequently greater problems during distance teaching and of course more reduced use of technology. I found out that age can certainly affect the perception of technology, mainly for the reason that the older generations did not grow up with it, but I completed the task with a different opinion. Any individual, regardless of age, can do a lot in this area and where there is a will, there is a way. I may not be able to say much with the results, but I started to look at the issue differently. Older people can certainly compete with younger ones in this field and the quality of teaching with the help of technology or distance teaching can be top-notch only if the individual delves into the discovery of modern ways of conveying material.
The Covid-19 epidemic was definitely a test for teachers around the world, as well as a great route for new opportunities and learning.
