The objective of the master's degree was to improve the door guidance of machine intended for washing and disinfecting medical devices. When a door opens it hits the chamber wall, causing the screw rod on which the door is hung on to break. Background overview of the door opening mechanism, broken rod analysis, and creation of door opening kinematics allowed us to create different concepts to prevent the breakage of the threaded rod. These concepts were then evaluated according to the technical and financial criteria. After the concept evaluation phase, the best concept according to our criteria was chosen. For the chosen concept we then prepared a detailed model, technical documentation, and stress-strain analysis for critical components.
