Pursuing the goals of the municipality's transport strategy in Bohinj means strengthening the transport
hub in Bohinjska Bistrica with the aim of relieving the traffic burden on the lake shore. In the concept
of sustainable transport development, the transport system is connected with open public space. The
need to make a journey arises due to the dispersion of activities in the area. Based on literature, case
studies, an analysis of the existing situation and a survey among the residents of Bohinjska Bistrica, we
examined the interdependence of sustainable mobility and open public space. As part of the master's
thesis, we proposed the arrangement of a network of walking and cycling routes in Bohinjska Bistrica
using the results of theoretical and analytical research. Organised infrastructure, as an integral part of
open public space, enables access and the creation of social interactions that connect the community.
From the point of view of traffic management with a multimodal perspective, it is a reflection of
successful urban development. In order to obtain a larger number of users of this system, it is necessary
to improve people's perception of active mobility and supplement different uses of open public space.
At the end of the thesis, we gave recommendations for the development of traffic planning at the local
level in Bohinjska Bistrica.
