The aim of the master's thesis was to gain insight into the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the use of the public library and library materials in the Ksaver Meško Library Slovenj Gradec. The study covered the period of the pandemic from March 2020 to May 2021. Five interviews were conducted
with librarians and thirteen interviews with users of the library. An analysis of statistical data on the use of the library and its services was also prepared to compare data for the first year of the pandemic with data for the year before the pandemic and for the second year of the pandemic.
The analysis of collected data showed that visits to the library decreased for all categories of users, and that the use of the library in the first year of the pandemic was affected by the fear of infection. Interviewees used COBISS+ and mCOBISS more often during the period under review due to the changed access to the material. Older users missed conversations about books, and regarding the implementation of events and activities, the interviewees were of the opinion that the library could have hosted even more events during the pandemic through Zoom and social networks.
