The thesis deals with comparing the phrases of one of the most common domestic animals present in human enviroment for thousands of years – a dog. The comparison is in Polish and Slovak languages. I search for the most commonly used phrases in dictionaries and language corpora - compare them and find them a linguistic and meaning equivalent,. Due to the nature of the thesis, I focus only on phrases found in selected dictionaries, from which I am particularly interested in those, that do not have an equivalent in compared language. In the first part, the thesis defines the classifications of the most prominent linguistic authors of Polish and Slovak literature, while in the second part, which is more extensive, it practically displays the selected phrases and their comparison with each other.
