The bachelor thesis discusses Slovene dialects, more specifically the Prlekija dialect. Dialectology is the branch of linguistics that deals with the study of dialects, which includes the recording of dialects, the creation of dialect maps and the collection of vocabulary. The division of dialects occurred early in the Slovene language, and its further development was influenced by the political and ecclesiastical division of the Slovene territory, the difficult passage of certain terrains, and the different pace of development in certain areas. The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to present the Prlekija dialect and its linguistic features, while also presenting the history of Prlekija and its influence on the present-day linguistic image of the region. In the research part of the thesis, special attention is devoted to the analysis of the Prlekija dialect among members of two different generations, which includes an individual analysis of speeches as well as their comparison, while part of the research is devoted to the comparison of their knowledge of Prlekija dialect words.
