The thesis addresses the key challenges faced by the Albanian minority in the Preševo Valley in their daily lives. Through the analysis and interpretation of primary and secondary sources, both the most basic areas of the research problem, such as education, culture and the media, as well as more complex and politically motivated ones, such as "passivisation" and the perception of the Islamic community as a security threat, are presented in more detail. Since the Albanian population in the region has been indigenous for a very long time and has managed to preserve its national identity despite the armed conflict, the aim of this thesis is to present the situation of the Albanians in the Preševo Valley, focusing on historical, demographic, political, economic, security and other problems. The findings of the thesis will contribute to the understanding of the current situation of the Albanian minority in the Republic of Serbia, which, in addition to numerous problems, also faces a lack of respect for minority rights. All this contributes to poor relations between Serbs and Albanians and worsens the security and political situation in the region. There is also limited economic development and high unemployment.
