When we decide to make a device to measure the amount of CO2
in the air, we need to know which sensor best suits our required task.
The requirements vary depending on the task at hand. Thus, we can have many
different requirements and sensors we can use. In my diploma thesis, I
compared and analyzed the difference between three CO2 sensors. I compared
them based on price, current consumption, and measurement accuracy. I made a
circuit that connected all three sensors, and then measured the amount of CO2
at the same place and at the same time. I also measured their current with an
ammeter and found prices for all three sensors online. After I got all the results
I compared them with each other. That’s how I got the actual characteristics of
the sensors. Based on these characteristics and the requirements of the specific
task we can decide which sensor to use.
